GETTING STARTED
No. Every game runs directly in your browser using HTML5 emulators. The first time you click PLAY on a game it loads in 2–8 seconds depending on the ROM size; after that it's cached and boots instantly.
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (14+), and any modern mobile browser. The emulators use WebAssembly which has been universally supported since 2018.
Yes. Phones and tablets get a virtual gamepad overlay. You can also connect a real Bluetooth controller (8BitDo, PlayStation, Xbox — all work).
Yes, after you install the PWA (click "Install App" in the top bar). Games you've played before are cached and playable without internet.
PLAYING GAMES
Free users get 1 save state per game (stored locally in your browser). PRO users get 5 slots per game, synced across devices via cloud storage.
Yes. Click the KEYS button in the emulator control bar. Mappings save per platform.
Default scaling preserves pixel ratios. To toggle smoothing or apply CRT filters, use the SET button in the control bar.
Yes. Player 1 defaults to arrows + Z/X, Player 2 to WASD + G/H. Both can be remapped. Or connect a second controller for the proper experience.
ACCOUNT
No. Anyone can play 5 games or 60 minutes per day for free, no account needed. Sign up to get cloud saves, achievements, leaderboards, and forum access.
Dashboard → Settings → Delete account. Full erasure within 30 days, in line with GDPR. Saves and comments are anonymized.
PRO PASSES
Unlimited play (no daily limit), 5 save slots per game (cloud-synced), no ads on game pages, early access to new originals, and a verified PRO badge.
Yes — within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked, if you haven't used the pass. Email refunds@retroplayland.com.
LEGAL & SAFETY
Every game in our catalog is one of: homebrew (made by indie devs with our permission), freeware/shareware (originally free), abandonware (publisher no longer exists or has discontinued the title), or public domain. We do not host any title without permission or legal basis. See the DMCA section if you are a rights holder.
Comments and forum posts are moderated. Game ratings are visible on every page (PEGI/ESRB). Parents can enable Kids Mode in settings to hide adult content.

We respond within 48 hours and remove valid claims within 7 days. Counter-notices follow standard DMCA procedure.
PRIVACY (TL;DR)
Only what's needed to make the service work: email (for account), play sessions (for limits and leaderboards), and an anonymous browser fingerprint (for abuse prevention). We never sell data. Analytics are self-hosted (Plausible). Full policy: see "PRIVACY POLICY" at /privacy.
TERMS (TL;DR)
Be civil in forums, don't scrape our content, don't share account passwords, respect rights holders (DMCA reports honored). We're allowed to ban accounts that abuse the service. Pro passes are one-time, non-transferable. Full terms at /terms.

A 3-person team based in Warsaw, Poland. We are gamers ourselves — kids of the 80s/90s who grew up with NES, Amiga, Commodore 64. We built this because no existing retro portal felt premium enough. Started 2026.
